Virginio passed away at the age of 98 on the 19th of September 2022, Tuesday. Many people including many famous businessmen, politicians, and celebrities as well have sent their condolences to his family of Virginio. Until now the cause of death has not been revealed but it is been speculated that aging might have been a cause behind his death, but as no sources claim it nothing can be said. Riccardo Puglisi posted on Twitter about the demise of Virginio Rognoni and sent his condolences and prayers to the family. It is been said that Virginio was in Pavia at the time of his death and he was along with his family when he passed away.

Virginio was born on the 5th of August 1924 in Corsico, Lombardy, Italy, He had his degree in law from the University of Pavia in 1947. After that, he had his masters from Yale University for two years until 1950 and during that time he also worked as a lawyer. During that time, while working as a lawyer, Virginio worked as a counselor in Local Government after that he worked as deputy mayor for three years until 1967. In 1968 Virginio entered politics and he was elected as a member of the Chamber of Deputies, he served there as a member of deputy for seven years until 1994. Until then he served as a Minister of Interior and Minister of defense as well.

During the time when he was criticized for failing at his duties, Virginio helped the crime branch in solving the kidnap case of James Lee Dozier. He was later criticized for asking Rognoni to meet him on the same day Carlo Alberto was killed. All of these came when he was still in the presidency. Although many hurdles came in between Virginio stayed at his back and served as a member of the council. In 2002 he was elected as the vice-president of the High Council of the Judiciary and he retired from this position in 2006 at the age of 72.
